Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave Florida long-term care facilities notice that the Department of Health will conduct testing of residents and staff for the coronavirus.
Today, April 22, 2020, the nursing staff at Homestead Village of Pensacola has been assisted by Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital to conduct on-site COVID-19 testing of all assisted living and memory care residents and staff. To date, no residents have presented symptoms or tested positive. Two employees have tested positive and remain quarantined from the community.
Community Senior Life (CSL) senior living communities continue to practice universal precautions: disinfecting/cleaning protocols; hand washing and personal hygiene; wearing appropriate personal protection equipment; and, social distancing both in the community and encouraging employees to do so while off duty. Each CSL community is following respective local and state department of health requirements including employee screening prior to contact with residents and the staff-wide usage of face masks while on duty. Homestead Village of Florida screens its assisted living and memory care residents twice daily for symptoms related to COVID-19 and pre-screens all employees prior to contact with any residents.
Community Senior Life is grateful for the services provided by Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital and the team at Homestead Village for continuing to keep our residents safe and well. CSL will continue to post updates as they arise via social media, our website: CommunitySeniorLife.org, and internal communications with our employees, residents, and family members.
