Homestead Village of Florida currently has one (1) staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee last worked on 28 October but was not in the community during the previous five (5) days. The employee is quarantined away from the community and is currently doing well.
On Thursday, October 29, 2020, the nurse team at Homestead Village of Pensacola conducted on-site COVID-19 tests of all residents and available staff with all negative results.
To further ensure the safety of our residents and staff, Community Senior Life will order repeated tests in seven (7) days and again in fourteen (14) days. Should Homestead Village of Pensacola have any additional positive results, Community Senior Life will test every week until Homestead Village has two (2) consecutive weeks with negative results.
Homestead Village of Pensacola immediately notified resident family and sponsors via phone calls and also reported to the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. The care staff at Homestead Village are taking every precaution and closely following the recommendations from the CDC, Florida Department of Health and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
Since the threat of COVID-19 began, all Community Senior Life locations have practiced universal precautions: sanitation and disinfection procedures each shift on a daily basis within each community, building, and cottage; hand washing and personal hygiene; wearing appropriate personal protection equipment; and, social distancing both in the community and encouraging employees to do so while off duty. As an organization, Community Senior Life continues to follow all local and state department of health requirements including employee, vendor, and visitor screening prior to contact with residents and the staff-wide usage of face masks while on duty.
