For 15 years, the Pensacola News Journal has been recognizing and celebrating the Best of the Bay businesses. Each year, the Pensacola News Journal and PNJ Media Solutions encourages all in the community to cast their vote to recognize who they think is the best in the Pensacola area in a host of categories.
This year, there were three nominations (Homestead Village, Azalea Trace, and Veranda of Pensacola) in the Best Assisted Living category. Not long after the voting ended on September 4th, Homestead Village of Pensacola was awarded Best Assisted Living Facility for 2020.
Homestead Village is owned and operated by Community Senior Life; a non-profit senior living organization dedicated to providing the best in continuum care. Homestead Village won Best Assisted Living 2019 and 2018 and was a finalist in 2017 and 2016. With COVID-19 dominating most of 2020, this year has been a trying year for many senior living communities not just in Pensacola but around the country. Homestead Village of Pensacola has a long history of deficiency free state surveys, numerous accolades, and superior compliance with assisted living state regulations. The community served as the district’s distribution center for Farmers to Seniors, a free food distribution program for seniors and senior living communities. David Acuff, Executive Director of Homestead Village, serves as the Northwest Regional Director with the Florida Assisted Living Association and sat on the COVID advisory committee. Homestead Village continues to lead Pensacola in Alzheimer’s Awareness and Fundraising hosting events every year in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association.
